Questions
Including the ones that could cost us the sale.
There is no placement guarantee here, the certificate is our own, and we will tell you when a course is the wrong one for you. All of that is below rather than discovered after you pay.
The courses
Ten questions people actually ask before enrolling.
Do I need any experience to join?
No. The Basic to Advance Makeup course and the one-day masterclass both start from the beginning, and most people who join have only ever done their own face. If you are already working, say so when you enquire and we will start you further in rather than charging you to repeat what you know.
What does the course cost?
The one-day Self Makeup Masterclass is ₹499. For the diploma and the individual courses, ask and you will get a figure — there is no obligation attached to knowing the price, and nothing is added after you enrol.
Who actually teaches — is it Neha?
Neha teaches. Bhakti Kadam takes the hairstyling sessions. There is no third tier of assistants you have not been told about.
Do I practise on real people or on mannequins?
Both, in that order. Hair starts on practice heads because that is the sane way to learn pinning, then moves to real hair. Makeup is on faces — your own, each other's, and models — because a mannequin cannot tell you the base is sitting badly.
Is a kit included?
Products are provided for use in class. Ask about what you should own by the end and what you can put off buying — the honest answer depends on the course and on what you already have, and we would rather you spent that money well.
Where exactly is the studio?
Malvankar Chowk, ground floor, Vakola Bridge, Vivekanand Road, Santacruz East. Roughly seven minutes on foot from Santacruz Road station. There is a map and written directions on the studio page.
Can I come and see the place before I decide?
Yes, and you should. Message on WhatsApp and pick a time when a class is running so you can see how it actually works rather than an empty room.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes, on completion, from Neha Makeup Academy. We are careful about how we word this: it is an academy certificate. Any course anywhere claiming a government or international accreditation should be able to name the awarding body and its registration — if they cannot, ask harder.
Do you help with placement?
There is no placement guarantee here, and you should be wary of one. What there is: help building a portfolio, guidance on pricing and taking bookings, and honest introductions where they genuinely exist.
Do you also do bridal bookings?
Yes. Neha still works through the wedding season, in Mumbai and travelling. That is deliberate — the teaching stays current because the work is current.
Is this a beautician course or a makeup artist course?
A makeup artist course, and the difference matters before you pay. A beautician course teaches facials, waxing, threading and skincare. This teaches makeup, hairstyling and saree draping — the three things a bride needs on the day, and the three things that let you run a wedding morning by yourself. If what you want is to offer skin and salon treatments, this is the wrong course and we would rather say so now than take your fee.
Can I join after 10th or 12th? What is the eligibility?
There is no eligibility requirement. No 10th or 12th marksheet, no degree, no prior course. The one-day masterclass and the Basic to Advance Makeup course both start from the beginning, and plenty of people arrive having only ever done their own face. What matters is whether you will practise between sessions.
How long is the course, and when are the classes?
The one-day Self Makeup Masterclass is a single Sunday, 3:00 to 5:00 pm. For the diploma and the individual courses, the length depends on the batch you join and whether you take it one-to-one or in a small group — ask and you will be told the current schedule and the next start date, with no obligation attached to knowing.
What work can I do after the course?
The realistic routes out of here are freelance bridal and occasion work, salon or studio work, and personal clients you build up yourself. What the academy gives you towards that is the skill, practice on real faces, help building a portfolio, and straight guidance on pricing and taking bookings. What it does not give you is a job — nobody honest can promise one, and anybody who does is selling you something.

How far in advance should I book a bridal date?
As early as you have a date. Checking availability costs nothing and commits you to nothing, and the wedding season fills from the outside in.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes — across Mumbai as standard, and outstation or destination on request. Travel and stay are quoted as their own line rather than folded into the makeup fee.
Is a trial necessary?
It is strongly recommended, and not for the reason people expect. The trial is where we find out how your skin behaves under product and how long your face actually takes, and that timing is what the wedding-morning running order is built from.
Can you do my mother and my sisters too?
Yes. Say how many people and for which functions when you ask for a quote, because it changes the start time more than it changes the price.
Something not answered here?
Ask it directly. You will get a real answer from Neha rather than a brochure, and there is no obligation attached to asking.
